Hi.
y name’s Josh Wyatt, nice to meet you!
After a childhood of enjoying martial arts, reading, and team sports, I received scholarship to attend Saint Mary’s College of California, where I was introduced to the liberal arts, meditation, Aikido, and graduated top of my class in Philosophy.
Beginning in 2002, after graduation, I pursued until 2008 an intensive study of Aikido at Berkeley Aikikai and then at Phoenix Aikikai under the incomparable I. Shibata, Shihan, director of Aikido UnEnKai. I. Shibata, Shihan also introduced me during this time to sitting zen practice.
In 2008, after some recommendation from a trusted friend, and upon reading Moshe Feldenkrais’s The Potent Self, I enrolled for a Feldenkrais Method professional training program with the Feldenkrais Resources Training Institute in Berkeley, undergoing 4 years of training under the guidance of Carol Kress, and Dennis Leri, who between them carry almost 60 years of Feldenkrais Method practice. I was fortunate enough to meet and train with some of the country’s most-esteemed practitioners, including, Elizabeth Beringer, Arlyn Zones, and David Zemach Bersin, not to mention, a talented, friendly, and generous group of classmates.
Presently I teach Feldenkrais Method classes, both Awareness Through Movement and Functional Integration, continue Aikido practice at Berkeley Aikikai, sit zazen, and live with my shining and talented partner, photographer and journalist Bonnie Chan.
